Connect Google Drive

Last updated on Nov 06, 2026

Connect Google Drive, then choose a folder on each file field that should send files there.

Steps

  1. Open Destinations. In your PigeonFiles workspace, go to Settings > Destinations.

  2. Start the Google Drive connection. Click Add connection, choose Google Drive, then continue to the provider authorization flow.

  3. Sign in to Google. Choose the Google account that has access to the Drive folders where you want files delivered. If you use Google Workspace, select your work account.

  4. Grant permissions. Approve the permissions PigeonFiles requests. PigeonFiles needs access to create files and folders in your Drive on behalf of uploaders.

  1. Open your upload page. Open a draft and use the folder control on its file upload field.

  2. Select a folder. Click Select folder (or Change for an existing destination). With one connected account, its picker opens directly. With multiple accounts, choose the Google Drive account from the menu. Google’s folder picker opens directly. Select an existing folder and confirm. To use a new folder, create it in Google Drive first, then select it here.

  3. Choose how to organize uploads. In the field’s File organization settings, leave Organize into subfolders off to receive files directly in your selected folder. Turn it on to build folders from form answers, where your plan includes folder organization. Matching answers keep using the same folders PigeonFiles creates. Existing folders with the same name stay separate.

  4. Save and test. Click Save changes. If the page is disabled, enable it when ready. Send a sample upload through its public link. Check both the selected storage folder and the completed submission record.

You can connect storage during onboarding and choose its folder in the same page editor. Connection settings manage the account; each file field keeps its chosen destination. Changing a folder does not turn automatic organization on or off.

Troubleshooting

Connection status shows "Reauthorize required." Google tokens can expire or be revoked. Go to Settings > Destinations and reconnect the Google account.

Folder access lost. If the destination folder was moved, deleted, or its permissions changed, PigeonFiles cannot deliver files there. Choose a new folder or restore access in Google Drive.

Google Drive storage limits. PigeonFiles delivers files to your Drive, so Google's storage quota applies. If the connected account runs out of space, delivery will fail.

Shared Drive permissions. The connected Google account needs permission to add files to the selected folder, and to create subfolders if your rules require them. Check the account’s Shared Drive permissions and any organization restrictions when delivery fails.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a Google Shared Drive?

Yes. When choosing a destination folder, you can select folders inside Shared Drives that the connected Google account can access.

Does PigeonFiles give uploaders access to my Drive?

The upload request does not grant folder-browsing permission. Uploaders send files through the page, and you control access to the destination through Google Drive.
